More Reasons Why Brewer's Republic is Kicking Ass

Brewer's Republic just celebrated their third anniversary. A fair amount has changed at the bar in those three years, but at the same time, not a whole lot has changed. They're still the same great bar for drinking great beer and meeting friends.

Over the weekend this downtown Colorado Springs bar revealed a couple things that will certainly cement them as a craft beer destination for people all over the state of Colorado. For starters, Brewer's Republic has now opened 8 additional taplines, bringing their beer list to a whopping 20 taps. Twelve taps were certainly a good amount for bringing an excellent selection to the city, and for surprising the beer geeks with a good assortment of craft beer. Below, Josh answers some questions about what these extra eight taps will do for the bar.

Additionally Brewer's Republic is one of the first recipients of beers from the brand-new distribution company called Crooked Stave Artisans. The company is a subsidiary of Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project and is in the business of distributing boutique Belgian and Belgian-style beers from around the map back to the Front Range. It's a pretty amazing sounding company.

The first beers will be delivered this week and will be available at Brewer's Republic Friday, Sept. 6 for a very special event. The beers include: Stillwater Artisinal Ales: Stateside Saison, Existent, Cellar Door, As Follows; Evil Twin Brewing from Denmark: Yin, Yang, Ryan and the Beaster Bunny, Molotov Cocktail, Low Life, and Lil B; and there will be one case of Tilquin Questche-Plum Lambic. That should be killer.

We caught up with Great Storm Brewery after their one year anniversary, and learned they had leased space next door to almost triple their existing space. Tomorrow, after much anticipation, they will be opening their doors for everyone to see their remodeled portion of what will add to the existing tasting room space.

A first-hand look at Phantom Canyon's expanded brewery

In between pints of the hoppy and wonderful Continuum Belgian Ale at Phantom Canyon, I checked in with Alan Stiles and got to see the brewery's expansion project first-hand. I'm really excited for Phantom Canyon, as they'll be doing a fair amount more in terms of bottling and capacity, and they'll have a few outside accounts as well. So we'll hopefully see their beer a few places around town.

When I stopped in last week, they were getting ready for the first brew on the new system. In the photo above you can see the two new 30 barrel fermenters next to the old 10 barrel ferments. Not pictured are the two new 15 barrel fermenters as well. The equipment fits into a newly built structure on the side of the building's northern wall. All the construction had to pass a Historical Review and maintain the spirit of the original building.

Colorado Springs Brewery Expansion: Trinity Brewing

If you've followed Trinity Brewing on Facebook the past month or so you've probably noticed that things are a changing a bit over on Garden of the Gards Road. Jason Yester sent us some information about all the new changes and we've gotten pretty excited about what's happening. Not only will Trinity be upping their capacity so that beer doesn't run out, but there are plans for new beers, more beer, and distribution. Let's take a look.

To start things off, Trinity is scaling up from a 4 bbl (barrel) system to a 12 bbl. Normally they could expecct 7-8 kegs of beer per brew and now they can expect closer to 22-24 kegs depending on the beer. This will really open up some possibilities and Jason has already thought through it...
