Trinity Announces Boat Load of December Beer Events

This is all straight from the Trinity Brewing Press Release. And if you read the Examiner in Colorado Springs on a daily basis, this may be review. I will at least be at Trinity for the public unveiling of the Double Rainbow collaborative beer, but I leave town mid December so I'll miss out on a few things. But you won't miss me! I'll be reporting from Beervana (Portland, Oregon). But, this line-up should definitely keep you busy the next month!

Breckenridge and Wynkoop Make Joint Venture

Earlier today the beer world was informed of another merger. Just a few days ago it was Rock Bottom, Gordon Biersch and Craftworks. Today it is Breckenridge Holdings (of Breckenridge Brewing) and Wynkoop Holdings (of Wynkoop Brewing). Each group have 7 businesses, including Wynkoop's holdings of Phantom Canyon Brewing here in Colorado Springs. Each of the fourteen businesses will keep their identity.

As the Westword Blog points out, Breckenridge has a bottling line that can bottle or can 60,000 barrels of beer per year, but is only running half that currently. I don't want to speak prematurely here, but I'm hoping that means we'll see some of Phantom Canyon's awesome beers available in stores.

Rock Bottom and Gordon Biersch Merge

The big news of the day is that both Rock Bottom and Gordon Beirsch changes are merging together to become CraftWorks Restaurants and Breweries. It looks as if both companies will retain their brand, so the Rock Bottom of Colorado Springs will still be Rock Bottom, if I'm understanding this correctly. CraftWorks, which also owns Old Chicago will now be in operation of almost 200 brewpubs throughout the United States. There are no plans for rebranding or closing any operations at this point in time. I'm not sure what this will mean for the Rock Bottom in Colorado Springs, but I hope that we will still be seeing the seasonals and specials that make this brewery a great part of our city. Hopefully the brewers will not be limited in any way.
