Beer in 2013: Our Photos

It's over already? Wow, time flies when you're drinking great beer! 

2013 was definitely a pretty amazing year. From rousing discussions about what makes a gueuze a gueuze to packing Front Range BBQ's patio month after month (no matter the temperature) for all of our Meet the Brewer talks, this year has been unique and interesting to say the least. Eric's Beers Made by Walking has again grown considerably, becoming bigger than a Colorado thing with tastings in both Denver and Portland this year, and we can't wait to see where it goes from there. The brewery boom has shown no signs of slowing, with Nano 108 and Lofty Brewing starting up recently and newcomers Manitou Brewing, Fieldhouse Brewing, and Fossil Brewing looking at 2014 for their opening date. Things here at Focus on the Beer are definitely evolving and changing, but we look forward to 2014 to be another year full of great times with craft beer.

Sneak a Peek at the Green Man This Weekend

What Falling Rock is for Denver, or Mayor of Old Town is for Fort Collins, Green Man Taproom and Beer Garden is hoping to be for Colorado Springs. This city has been missing a spacious taproom with beer garden and an extensive beer list. Owners Scott and Petra Simmons are hoping to fill this void with Green Man. They have been visiting breweries and taprooms for years, taking pictures and notes of the good and the bad.

This weekend you can get a bit of a preview of Green Man Taproom, a tap house and potential beer garden (city approval for the latter is still pending) featuring 50+ taps, slated to open in February 2014.  They are holding a sneak peek beer festival this Saturday, November 9th from 2-6pm at 320 S. Weber Street.  The festival will feature beers from distributors and local brewers that the taproom will showcase.

Tickets are available for $35 each.  Your ticket buys you half-pint samples of numerous beers and food from Za Pizza. There are between 50 and 100 tickets available at the time of this post, so make sure to get yours now!

We had a great time at the All Colorado Beer Festival this past Saturday. There were 67 breweries and over 2,500 attendees! If you were unable to make it, check out a little photo recap from the day!

Now that GABF is out of the way, and we all have (hopefully) recovered, there's a number of great events coming up! A number of beer releases, tappings, beer dinners and another beer festival are heading your way! As always, when we hear about new things, we'll keep you all updated!

Remember, there's plenty to do in and around our state's Capitol, and you never even have to set foot inside the Convention center! We already know you're all as excited for Beers Made by Walking tonight as we are, but here's a couple happenings later on that we think are sure to be memorable!
