Local beer bar closes down this weekend

Unfortunately today we have learned that a beer spot in Colorado Springs is closing down. We received official confirmation just now and we are very saddened by the news. I'm posting all the information below.

This morning we confirmed that our friends up at Another Pint are closing their doors. This news is a bit difficult to hear. It was just over a year ago that Tony and Stephanie Hockemeyer bought the business, previously called A Second Cup, and had visions of turning it into a craft beer paradise. I really think for a while it was happening and it was all very exciting but it just didn't work out in the long run. I imagine Tony and Stephanie are heartbroken over the decision and our thoughts go their direction. I asked Tony if he wanted to say anything and he prepared a statement:

"I'm deeply, deeply saddened by the decision to shut [Another Pint] down. Best times of my life. It turned out to be too much to bounce back from past mistakes. I got to live out my dream for over a year and it was everything I hoped it would be and more. It's time to make a decision based on my family and my amazing, supportive wife. I'm gonna miss that place as it became a staple in my life since 2008. I'm gonna miss all my loyal customers I've met along the way, that's who this was all for, all of you. Thank you so much for the good times and wonderful memories. I am trying to stay in the industry and perhaps start a career as a beer rep. So hopefully I will still get to see everyone! God bless."

Tony mentioned that Another Pint will attempt to throw a Last Hoorah this weekend. I'm not positive that it will happen but he said he's trying to get some final product there. So, you should stop by if they are open. Another Pint / 13860 Gleneagle Dr  Colorado Springs, CO.

Finally we would like to say a big THANK YOU to Tony and Stephanie for all their hard work. Even though Another Pint didn't work out, we know you two will be able to do some great things again soon.

  2. We've mentioned them a bunch here. It was a good place with great potential. Definitely a difficult location for me to get to though.

  3. I take my department at the Air Force Academy there for Friday 'marshmallows' a few times a month. I refuse to go to RMB because the quality of the beers is often lacking. This is going to be a tough loss for beer drinkers on the north side who just wanted a few pints of a good rotating selection. Thanks for trying though.

  4. Anon, I think you are confusing Rocky Mountain Brewery with Colorado Mountain Brewery (that's the one on interquest). RMB is great, whereas CMB is lacking.

  5. Rocky Mountain Brewery, on the south end of town, is by far the best brewery in the Springs. Agree with prior post, Anon is confusing RMB with Colorado Mountain Brewery on the north end of town.

Another Pint closing down is no surprise. Everytime I went there I got slow/rude service. They also screwed over people who had groupons and such from A Second Cup that were still valid. You reap what you sow.

  7. hey anonymous number 2. your comment would have been better if you left out the insult. thats right: you reap what you sow. i wonder what kicking somebody while their down will reap? we never worked with groupon also. please dont say things that are untrue. we were not "a second cup" anymore. the prices and menu items were different from back then and it changed to a whole different business!! we didnt accept any Barracuda bobs coupons either! so we must have "screwed over" a lot of people then! we were not aware that we were supposed to honor prior businesses offers. for that i apologize i suppose. you obviously have never owned a restaurant and have no love in your heart or you might have thought of your comments as being inappropriate and rude. I imagine you run into a lot of people who treat you "rude". its obviously them/us and not you! i generaly stay away from answering comments on-line, however, we have already lost our business; and i'll be damned if lose any character or respect because of somebodys hurtfull AND inaccurate words.
cheers! And thank you all once again to our supporters!! it was an amazing ride :)

  8. Thank you for posting Tony. We are thankful for all your work and are sad to see Another Pint go.

I do wish people were more respectful in their comments and didn't hide behind anonymous trolling.

  9. Tony, I posted that I received rude/poor customer service at Another Pint. I tried the establishment multiple times and the slow/poor/rude service was consistent EACH time. Places with bad service tend not to stay in business, that isn't an insult, that is common sense. You have a customer, right here, who received poor service multiple times and your response is to attack that person, that customer? You further claim I am saying things that aren't true, but then you confirm what I said about denying the groupon. You question my business knowledge but you clearly know nothing about how groupon/living social type places work or you'd realize than many of the offers expire not long after purchase. A2C sold one of these deals shortly before changing to AP...instead of working with your customers over honoring them (even honoring 50% of the certificate would have been fine, it was only 5-10 dollars) you instead denied them outright. When mine was denied it was done so with exceptionally rude comments from the waitress with no apology. Your post here is clearly indicative of how unhappy customers are/were treated at your establishment. It comes as no surprise to me of AP closing given my experiences at the place. My prior comment stands. My business will stay with places that make customer service a priority, such as Trinity, Rocky Mtn Brewery, Pikes Peak Brewery...etc.

I'm sorry you find the truth to be trolling and disrespectful. It is what it is.

ya know its a little ridiculous that you expect a business to except coupons for a whole other business. another pint and a second cup are not the same thing so why would another pint take a second cups coupons. it sucks that this place has to go down like this so don't bad mouth it right now. everyone involves is already upset so don't make it worse. Everyone involved tried their hardest to keep this place going, unfortunately it didn't work so just back off.

  12. We are sad to see AP close, because we live close and always enjoyed the diverse beer selection. A rarity on the north end. We feel the food was the main reason. When I can make better food at home, Im not going to go and pay for mediocrity. Best of luck to the Hockemeyers and the rest of the staff.

  13. My wife and I were saddened to learn of the closing. We enjoyed the selection of beer, the food, and the service. It was very nice to have in the neighborhood, although I expect those from outside of the Gleneagle area might have been surprised it was there. Will cherish the memories.

  14. Tony,

Are you selling off any of the memorabilia? I would be interested in an item or two...

  15. Hello Tony and Stephanie,

My husband and I are Gleneagle locals and are very sad to here of A/P shutting down. Hubby drove by the other day and noticed all was gone; very saddened as it was a nice place to pop in down the road and on the way home to have a couple of great beers. Chad at the bar was always friendly and courteous. When I would go with my husband I liked to get a table and have a bite to eat. Food was always superb and I made sure the chef knew it! Not once in the times we visited did we ever receive poor service. It was always excellent. Our best wishes in your next endeavor to both of you! Best of success and God Bless you and yours! RJ

  16. I love me a good beer, but based on comments here and on other sites like yelp it seems AP focused its service on regulars and/or friends of the owner. It also seems like there was no advertising for the business. Combine these two factors with failing to acknowledge poor service/bad food quality for the non-friends/regulars well this is what you get. I hope the owners reflect on this and open a new joint focusing more on service, perhaps a north end version of Brewer's Republic?
