This is a surprisingly slow week for beer here in Colorado Springs, but there seems to be some happenings tonight so let me direct your atttention to Pikes Peak Brewing and Trinity. And we'll be sure to keep you busy with a series of interesting posts this week.
At Trinity Brewing
Barley Wine Tapping - 5pm
Trinity will be pouring these Barley Wines: Lefthand Widdershins, Boulevard Harvest Dance, Great Divide Old Ruffian, Phantom Canyon Winston Smith's, Bristol's Old #23, and Avery's Hog Heaven.
Located at: 1466 Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs
At Pikes Peak Brewing
Cedar Aged IPA on Cask - 5pm
Tonight Pikes Peak is tapping this special IPA cask, it will only last tonight so better hurry over.
Located at: 1756 Lake Woodmoor Dr., Monument
At Phantom Canyon
Not necessarily a special tapping, but I JUST got word that Phantom has three new beers available: The Jebus Braggot (9.5% ABV) is a fermented beverage that is a cross between beer and mead (honey wine). Moltke the Younger Belgian Style Tripel Ale (9.6% ABV) is a strong, medium bodied Belgian Abbey-Style ale, which features three authentic Belgian yeast strains. And the SeƱor Biggles (6.4% ABV) is an English-style Extra Special Bitter with aromas of spicy/woody hops, balanced with toasted biscuit malt flavors with roasted hints.

I was at Phantom last night. Started with a pitcher split between friends of Senor Biggles, excellently smooth, nice fruity bubblegum finish. Tasted the Braggot, really good, really complex (though I wouldn't have been able to tell you it was a braggot, just a smooth, spiced brew. And I finished with the Tripel. Really good Belgian Yeast flavor, though not as fruity/estery as I would expect from a Tripel.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris, we're definitely looking forward to trying those beers too!
